Children's Eye Examination
In order to prevent unnecessary problems arising we recommend children have their eyes examined by an optometrist at least every two years from around the age of 3. You don’t need to wait until your child can recognise the letters of the alphabet before having their first eye examination. There are many tests that can be performed without letter charts which are just as effective.
Even if you haven’t noticed any issues with their vision, our state of the art equipment gives us the most accurate picture so we can catch any potential problems early on.

All of the team at P&A Eyecare are experienced in fitting children's eyewear and we will advise on size and shape to ensure a comfortable fit and optimum vision. We stock a large range of frames for children to try in a variety of styles.
Contact lenses may also be an option. A common misconception is that you have to be a certain age to wear contact lenses but we believe children just have to be mature enough to look after their lenses. In a recent study of 8-11 year olds, 90% of those taking part didn’t need any help with managing their own contact lenses. However, this is all dependent on the individual child. A child's maturity and ability to handle contact lenses responsibly is more important than age alone.
