Your sight is your most precious sense and deserves the highest standards of care. At P and A Eyecare your eye examination will last approximately 50 minutes and will be carried out by one of our skilled optometrists.
The reason we allow 50 minutes is not for the technical aspects of conducting an eye exam, you can do an eye examination in 25 minutes or less and that may be your past experience with other opticians.
The extra time we set aside is for us to get to know you as an individual, how you use your spectacles, what type of work you do etc. You will then get effective advice and recommendations tailored to your unique needs.
3D OCT Scan
We see the value in using the most advanced technology to detect and monitor your eye health. In 2016 we became the first practice in Crieff to invest in a 3D Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) Scanner. This revolutionary piece of diagnostic equipment looks in depth through the structures of your eyes to provide our optometrists with a high definition, three dimensional view of the back of your eyes.
The OCT scan is completely non-invasive and painless. Nothing touches your eye at all and it only takes a few seconds to complete each scan. The major benefit of OCT is that it can help us detect the smallest changes in your eye health before traditional testing methods, and many years before you notice any change in your vision itself. With certain eye conditions the faster you act, the more you protect. That is why we recommend OCT as part of your regular eye examination.
In Scotland the NHS funds a basic eye examination at set intervals to all UK residents. They are not able to fund the additional 3D OCT scans that we recommend as part of your regular eye examination and they do not provide funding for contact lens assessments.
